Texas Ranks High For Super Bowl Scorers

If there were legal, regulated Texas sports betting apps, they would not have this information. This chart was prepared for BetTexas.com.

Nationally, Texas ranks second overall when it comes to Super Bowl touchdowns scored by Lone Star State natives with 35. That’s 11.1% of all touchdown scorers in the big event, quite fitting for the second-most populous state in America and its strong connection to youth and high school football.

The overall leader in terms of Super Bowl touchdowns is Florida, at 37, in the first 57 editions of the Super Bowl. California comes in third with 24 touchdowns, followed by Pennsylvania and New Jersey, each with 19 touchdowns scored by their natives. Rounding out the list was Ohio (18 touchdowns), Mississippi (16), Illinois and Louisiana (13) and Washington (11), illustrating how national of a game football truly is at the sport’s highest level.

Chiefs-49ers Super Bowl Odds

Mahomes, a native of Tyler, Texas, and the AFC champs from Kansas City are listed as a 2-point underdog against the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers on ESPN BET Sportsbook as of Thursday afternoon. The moneyline was +108 for Kansas City and -128 for San Francisco; the over/under was 47.5 points.

For Mahomes, Super Bowl LVIII represents a chance for a third ring, with the 28-year-old throwing for 738 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions in his first three cracks at the Big Game.

In those contests, Mahomes has picked up wins over the 49ers (2020) and Eagles (2023), while falling to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021. He has been a two-time league MVP in addition to twice being named Super Bowl MVP twice.
