Week 6 ESPN College Gameday Guest Picker Odds: Oklahoma vs. Texas
Fact Checked by Nate Hamilton

The final Red River Showdown between the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners as members of the Big 12 goes down on Saturday inside the historic Cotton Bowl stadium in Dallas. This year’s matchup between the No. 3 Longhorns and 12th-ranked Sooners is the first between the bitter rivals as ranked teams since 2021, when OU pulled out a wild, 55-48 win over Texas.

Fresh off the 49-0 shellacking that Texas laid down on Oklahoma in 2022, the two rivals will meet again at 11 a.m. local time in an ABC-televised contest. Although Texas sports betting is not yet legal, oddsmakers from Caesars Sportsbook list UT as a 6.5-point favorite in the contest.

Week 6 College Gameday Guest Picker Odds

Ahead of the Saturday matinee, ESPN’s premier pregame show, College GameDay, will be in Dallas for the showdown between Texas and Oklahoma — with BetTexas.com breaking down the hypothetical odds - you wouldn't find on Texas betting apps even when they become legal - on which celebrity could join Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Rece Davis, and Pat McAfee on the stage this weekend.

Who Will ESPN Tab As Saturday’s Guest Picker in Dallas?

It’s hard to go against the unofficial hype man for Texas football, that being Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey, as the odds-on favorite to be this week’s guest picker for the Red River Showdown. That’s why we list the eponymous Texan as our No. 1 pick for GameDay this week, at +300, followed by fellow actor and UT alum Owen Wilson (+1250) on our list, while former national championship QB Vince Young is also listed at +1250 to be the guest picker this week in Dallas.

Other UT alums that could very well wind up in the guest picker spot this week include PGA golfer Scottie Scheffler, 300-game winning pitcher Roger Clemens and former NFL safety Earl Tomas, who have odds of +1500 and +1750 to join the show on Saturday morning. One way or another, when Corso dons the headgear of the Longhorns or Sooners from the Cotton Bowl sidelines a few moments before the opening kick between the Longhorns and Sooners, there will be a famous face to the former CFB coach’s right on stage.

Whether it’s McConaughey, Wilson, Young or someone else, that celebrity picker will join a who’s who of people who have received the honor of joining the pregame show in the late morning hours of a given fall Saturday.
